For example, this summer, whenever you are tempted by a sugary snack, try to remember that cavities take hold when sugars and starches are left on the surface of your teeth. When left alone, they will turn into the acids that form plaque when combined with your saliva. This plaque destroys your teeth enamel, causes decay, and even accelerates gum disease. None of that will be fun for you.
As such, you will need to remember to brush your teeth twice each day, for two or more minutes at a go. But that will only be the beginning. FInd the floss and go after the areas in-between your teeth. If you are able, finish off your routine by rinsing with a fluoride-fortified mouthwash.
